Literature Movements

The library has a wealth of resources to help you explore different literary movements.

Some movements are as follows:
Romanticism
Transcendentalism
Anti-Transcendentalism
Realism/Naturalism
Lost Generation
Harlem Renaissance
Modernism
Contemporary

Databases:
There are citations provided on the Databases but they are not all in correct format so make sure your take the information from the citation and reformat it!
You DO NOT need to include the URL.
  • ABC CLIO is generally correct- check capitalization of titles on their citations.
  • GALE is correct most of the time, but you need to be able to "read" citations to know this!
  • FACTS ON FILE has just begun citing in MLA in addition to Chicago style but they do not cite correctly. You cite better than they do!

  • Click under the red More Tab at top
  • Then go to Movements
Gale- Literature Resource Center
  • Put in Search term (ie Lost Generation)/ The default is Keyword search so you do not need to change anything.
  • When you get results for your literature movement name, Go to the TOPIC and WORK OVERVIEW Tab

When you get your results after submitting your search term, you may need to narrow to the EVENTS Tab
